Life is 10% what you make it, and 90% how you take it.

Seems a bit odd when I continually post about how you make your own happiness and success but stop and think about it. 10% of your attitude, situation, and actions are controlled by you completely.
The rest of it is manipulated or influenced by outside forces If someone cuts you off in traffic, it is no longer your choice of what happened it is some idiot not paying attention.
How you take it makes a huge difference.
Look at it in a positive light and think thank God he didn't hit me, or thank you for getting far enough ahead of me that when you do hit someone I can see it before it hits me...
Instead of getting angry and driving offensively and ending up in an accident yourself or getting a ticket…
It our choice of reaction no matter what the situation that dictates our outlook, mood, and even success.
If you are turned down for a promotion you really wanted and you get mad and mope about or relax at your job it can hurt your career, however if you go to your Boss with a positive attitude and ask what can I do to be the top choice for the next promotion? You may find that there was one minor area that the other person beat you in so you know where to be more prepared for the next round.

Also learning to accept that everything does happen for a reason is a huge motivator. There have been several promotions and jobs I have put in for that I just barely missed getting for different reasons, almost all of the promotions that I was turned down for are positions that have now been eliminated. And the jobs that I tried for although much better pay at the time would have put me in very dangerous places or the companies have gone out of business or been bought out by larger companies and most of the employees have gotten reassigned to other tasks that are not related to what they were doing or they have been laid off.

As you can see most of Life is influenced by outside forces and can either drive you down or pick you up. The choice is still yours and at the end of the day the only one that can take credit or blame is you.
Choose your path with an open mind and open heart and you will achieve great things. It may not be riches and power but in my ever so humble (yeah yeah I know) opinion the greatest wealth and power is making others’ lives better and the Legacy you leave behind. I would rather leave a legacy of love and compassion behind rather than a fortune in money or gold that everyone would fight over.
